Cut Through the Noise with Dave Turano

Nov 23, 2021

Divisive content is all around us. In our history, in our social media, and in our news, we see stories that highlight our differences and polarize us as humans.

Today, we speak with John Noltner, photographer and storyteller, who has for years been on a mission to find what connects us. Shortly after the election of President Obama, Noltner felt troubled by our nation’s racist rhetoric, which uncovered how much work we have left to do in the wake of justice and humanity. So he did what all good journalists do: he set out to find as many stories as he could. Now, he travels the country in search of people and stories—and he challenges himself to keep showing up to difficult discussions.

How does he get others to open up to him? He gains their trust by listening and accepting. Find his stories, his bio, his photos, and his blog at apomm.net. His next book, Portraits of Peace is available here. Like this episode? Be sure to share it around and write us a review on Apple Podcasts.
